INDEPENDENT REGULATION
In 2010 ARCH transferred the regulation of all its members to the independent body, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
The CNHC was formed in 2009 with government blessing to protect the public by setting standards of training, practice and conduct; this marked a "coming of age" for ARCH which has always led the industry by setting high standards – in fact they exceed those laid down by the CNHC.
The CNHC handles any complaints against ARCH members using a fitness to practice code, and is independent – there are no therapists on the Council.
ARCH firmly believe this adds even further to public confidence in consulting its members.
In November 2009 the Department of Health stated: "CNHC is the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary healthcare which has official government backing. No other organisation has the same exacting criteria or focus on safety and quality."
