Hydrotherapist
Training
ARCH recognised colleges offer the highest standard of training in colon hydrotherapy available anywhere. ARCH stipulate that each college must have well-experienced teachers, have insurance, have their premises inspected and be subject to external auditing to ensure that the highest levels of training and results are attained.
Over the 20 years since its foundation, ARCH has developed a syllabus which forms the basis of courses run by its recognised colleges: each course covers a minimum of 100 hours guided tuition including both theory and practical. Some colleges also offer extra facets to their training.
Students are able to join ARCH as student members and join the advantageous insurance scheme during training.
Colon hydrotherapy courses are taught at postgraduate level only, and each college agrees only to train prospective students satisfying certain pre-requisites; it is important that we provide the public with therapists of the highest standard, and a certain amount of pre-acquired knowledge and experience, not covered in the syllabus, is expected.
Prospective students must meet the following criteria:
- They must be fully qualified M.D.’s or certain R.G.N.’s with current registration or registered within the last 5 years OR
- They must have successfully completed a 2-year full time or 3-year part-time course in a substantial body-based therapy or therapies, including in-depth anatomy and physiology (physiology is particularly important covering the digestive, endocrine, neurological and circulatory systems) and clinical practice time and hold verifiable certification to this effect.
- If the therapy does not involve physical contact, a short contact therapy course will be required.
Evidence of prior qualifications must be submitted to the college of your choice before being accepted on a training course. Please note that colleges will not accept trainees who do not meet these pre-requisites, and ARCH membership would be refused.
We believe in supporting students and graduates who join ARCH and mentorship, premises inspection and insurance block schemes are in place to fulfil this.
